Vessel Charter & Supply

Your Offshore Operations, Anchored in Reliability.

ELYON charters Offshore Supply Vessels, Anchor Handling Tugs, Crew Transfer Vessels, barges and liftboats for oil and gas operations across West and Central Africa — fully crewed, STCW-certified, HSE-compliant and mobilised faster than any competitor in the region. When the operational window is open, we are already moving.

The Right Vessel. On Station. Before Your Window Closes.

Marine logistics in the Gulf of Guinea is not a simple procurement exercise. Vessel availability, port authority clearances, crew certification, flag state requirements, HSE documentation and operational weather windows all converge in a narrow operational timeline that does not forgive slow suppliers.

ELYON’s Vessel Charter & Supply service was built on one foundational insight: in offshore operations, speed of mobilisation is not a convenience — it is the difference between a project that hits its schedule and one that bleeds demurrage every day. We maintain standing relationships with vessel owners across the region, pre-negotiated commercial frameworks, and a marine operations team that can turn an inquiry into a confirmed charter faster than any other operator in West or Central Africa.

Whether you need a single OSV for a 72-hour cargo run, an AHTSV for a three-month mooring campaign, or a fleet of CTVs to support a platform construction campaign, ELYON builds the marine solution around your operational requirement — not around what happens to be convenient for us.

Every vessel ELYON places is verified for class, flag state compliance, STCW crew certification, P&I insurance and HSE documentation before the charter agreement is signed. There are no surprises on day one — because we have already checked everything you would check yourself.

Operational capabilities

What ELYON Marine Operations Delivers Beyond the Vessel

Chartering a vessel is the beginning of the service, not the end. ELYON’s marine operations team manages every element of the charter from vessel sourcing to demobilisation — so your team focuses on the operation, not the logistics.

Vessel vetting & compliance verification

Before any vessel is placed on charter, ELYON completes a full vetting process: class certificates, flag state registration, STCW crew certifications, P&I insurance confirmation, ISM compliance, ISPS certification and HSE documentation review. A vessel that fails vetting does not get offered to clients — no exceptions.

Crew certification management

All officers and ratings supplied with ELYON-chartered vessels hold current STCW certifications appropriate to their rank and the vessel's trading area. ELYON verifies certificate validity before mobilisation and manages crew rotation to ensure no expired certifications are ever on board during an active charter. Medicals, BOSIET/HUET, H2S and basic fire-fighting certificates verified as required by role.

Port agency & clearances

ELYON's port agents manage vessel clearances, berth allocations, customs documentation, port health declarations and all port authority formalities at every active port across our operational area. Vessels arrive ready to work — not waiting at anchor for paperwork. Our agents are on the ground, know the harbour masters personally, and resolve clearance issues before they become delays.

Voyage management & reporting

ELYON provides voyage-level management for all active charters — daily position reports, voyage instructions, cargo documentation, port logs and bunker consumption tracking. Clients receive a voyage report for each port call and a monthly charter performance summary. All reporting is available in the client's preferred format — no proprietary systems required.

Charter process

From Inquiry to Vessel on Station — Five Steps

Every ELYON charter follows a defined, documented process that protects both parties and ensures the vessel arrives ready to work — not with outstanding compliance items to resolve on arrival.

Charter Inquiry

Submit your requirement — vessel type, technical specifications, operational area, charter period and start date. ELYON's marine desk acknowledges within 2 hours, 24/7.

Vessel Identification & Vetting

ELYON identifies available vessels meeting your specifications. Full vetting completed — class, flag, STCW, P&I, ISM, ISPS, HSE documentation. Only compliant vessels are offered.

Commercial Offer

Written charter offer issued with vessel details, day rate, fuel consumption allowance, delivery/redelivery terms, off-hire provisions, payment terms and P&I club confirmation.

Charter Party Execution

Charter Party agreed and executed — typically on BIMCO Supplytime or Barecon form as appropriate. Port clearances, customs documentation and voyage orders issued simultaneously.

Vessel Mobilisation

Vessel departs for delivery location. ELYON operations tracks progress and provides position updates. On-hire survey conducted at delivery point. Operations begin.

Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What charter party forms does ELYON use?
ELYON uses industry-standard BIMCO charter party forms as the basis for all charter agreements. Offshore Supply Vessel charters are placed on BIMCO Supplytime 2017 form as a preference. Bareboat charters are placed on BIMCO Barecon 2017. Towage agreements use Towhire 2008. Specialist vessel charters may use BIMCO Heavycon, Windtime or other appropriate forms depending on the vessel type and operation. Clients are welcome to propose their own approved forms — ELYON will review and negotiate accordingly. All charter parties are reviewed by ELYON’s legal team before execution.

For long-term charters, ELYON pre-identifies substitute vessels at the point of charter commencement — before the vessel is needed. In the event of a mechanical breakdown, off-hire event or other unavailability, ELYON activates the substitute vessel without the delay of a fresh search. The substitute vessel has already been pre-vetted and commercially pre-negotiated. For spot charters, any unavailability triggers an immediate search through our owner network, with ELYON targeting a substitute on station within the same timeframe as the original mobilisation wherever possible.

Yes. ELYON’s owner network extends beyond West and Central Africa to include vessel owners in the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. For specialist vessel types or periods of high regional demand, ELYON can mobilise tonnage from adjacent regions. Transit time and repositioning costs are factored into the commercial offer and are typically offset by the operational benefit of securing the right vessel rather than an available but suboptimal one. International mobilisations require additional lead time — typically 7–21 days depending on origin — and ELYON will advise on realistic timelines during the inquiry stage.

Standard charter hire is invoiced and payable in advance of each charter period — typically weekly or bi-weekly depending on the charter duration. ELYON aligns payment timing with the client’s operational cash flow wherever possible, and our Customized Payment Solutions service can be applied to longer-duration charters where upfront hire payments create cash flow pressure. For well-established clients, net 30-day payment terms may be available, subject to credit assessment. All payment terms are set out clearly in the charter party — there are no hidden extras beyond the day rate, agreed fuel consumption allowances, and any pre-agreed additional services.

ELYON’s primary charter model is time charter — the vessel is provided with its full crew, managed by the shipowner under ELYON’s vetting and oversight. Bareboat charters (vessel without crew) are available for clients who wish to provide their own crew — ELYON can then supply additional specialist personnel through our Man Power Supply service if required. We can also supplement standard vessel crew with additional positions — extra ABs, additional cook/steward, medic, crane operator, ROV technician — sourced through our manpower division and embedded into the vessel’s crew complement for the duration of the charter.

For DP-class vessels, ELYON verifies the vessel’s DP Equipment Class certificate, FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) documentation, and Annual DP Trials records before mobilisation. Officers assigned to DP watch on ELYON-chartered vessels hold current Nautical Institute DP Certificates at the required competency level (DP Operator or DPO Unlimited as appropriate to the vessel class). ELYON will not place a DP-classed vessel on a charter requiring DP operations unless all DP documentation is current and all bridge officers assigned to DP watch hold the required NI certification.
